ROYALS skipper Sean Morrison is poised to sign a two-year contract extension.

The 22-year-old’s existing contract runs until late 2016. But, following interest from Premier League clubs, Royals are eager to tie him down on a longer deal.

Talks between Royals and Morrison’s agent have been going on for several months and are nearing a conclusion.

Morrison said: “I’ve still got two years left. I’m trying to extend that and hopefully it will be sorted soon.

“We’ve been talking for three or four months now. It’s been a slow process but the main thing is we get it right.”

He added: “I want to knock down a few more years at Reading as I’m very happy here. I feel wanted here.

“Nigel Adkins and the fans seem to like me and I love the place if I’m honest. It’s a great club and I’m very happy.

“My agent is dealing with it and all I want to do is concentrate on my football.”

Morrison has become Nigel Adkins’ No.1 centre-back and was named his new captain earlier this season.

Morrison, who has played every minute of every league game this season, joined Reading from Swindon Town in 2011 for around £300,000.

The 19-year-old was on target in Tuesday’s fixture while Gozie Ugwu and Sean Long also netted for Martin Kuhl’s side.
