ROYALS boss Brian McDermott has warned his players no-one is 'undroppable' ahead of tonight's crunch showdown with Aston Villa (8pm ko, live Sky Sports).

Reading slipped back into the Premier League relegation zone over the weekend following their agonising 3-2 defeat at Wigan.

Villa, meanwhile, remain in the bottom three in spite of a 0-0 draw with Arsenal at the weekend.

Now the two sides are set to clash at Villa Park tonight, with McDermott threatening to ring the changes if necessary.

One player whose place is under scrutiny is centre-back Kaspars Gorkss, who made two costly errors in last Saturday's loss at DW Stadium.

Gorkss has been ever-present this season but could now make way for last season's Player of the Year Alex Pearce or 2.5 million Watford summer signing Adrian Mariappa.

Royals manager explained: "No-one in this team is undroppable.

"Kaspars has been a warrior for me. He did well in the Championship and he is part of four centre-backs. He is up for selection.

"I'd not talk about any player's performance. That would not be right."

Royals right-back Chrus Gunter could also miss out tonight, with Shaun Cummings fighting for re-selection after losing his place to the Wales international.

McDermott added: "I spoke to Gunter yesterday. I said if you want the shirt, you've got to take it. I spoke to Cummings as well.

"Chris Gunter started the season, then Cummings came into the team. We had a few individual errors, he came out of the team.

"Gunter, in my opinion is a better player than he showed on Saturday, and I told him that. I said to him you need to show that because at the moment it's a toss of the coin between the two of them."

However, McDermott has limited options elsewhere with Jimmy Kebe, Jem Karacan, Danny Guthrie and Alex McCarthy recovering from injury.

The quartet are back in training but tonight's match will come too soon for them.
