Wanted man: Could gifted Royals midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson be on his way to the Bundesliga?

GYLFI Sigurdsson could be on his way to the German Bundesliga after Reading accepted a bid for their most prizes asset.

Reports say Royals have agreed a fee with top-flight club Hoffenheim, believed to be in the region of £5 million.

Sigurdsson, 20, only signed an improved three-year contract recently and was a major part of manager Brian McDermott's future plans.

But Reading are struggling to balance the books and Hoffenheim's offer was too tempting to refuse.

Icelandic ace Sigurdsson emerged through the Royals Academy and was named Player of the Year last season when he notched 20 goals from midfield.

He has netted two more this season and scored in Saturday's 2-1 victory at Leicester City.

A few weeks ago Sigurdsson insisted he had no intention of leaving the Madejski Stadium and he was relishing another crack at promotion.

But it is rumoured Royals have subsequently accepted a fee, giving Sigurdsson little choice but to open talks with Hoffenheim.

Reading manager Brian McDermott hopes to use the money to bring in a replacement before the transfer deadline on Tuesday night.
