Tommy Smith
TOMMY Smith is poised to turn down Wolves to re-join Brendan Rodgers at Reading.
And Rodgers could be set to launch an audacious seven-figure bid to bring Nottingham Forest star Nathan Tyson back to the Royals.
The Chronicle can exclusively reveal Reading have won the race to sign the 29-year-old Watford striker who is set to shun a move back to the Premier League.
It is understood the ex-Derby and Sunderland star could complete his move within the next week for a fee of about £800,000.
And sources in the east Midlands say Reading have also inquired about Tyson who played under Rodgers when he was in charge of the Royals' Academy.
Rodgers refused to confirm the Smith signing, but he admitted the club are in the market for a new striker following Kevin Doyle"s £6.5 million move to Wolves this week.
'Losing Kevin means we are obviously looking to bring someone in,' explained Rodgers. 'He scored 18 goals last season even though he missed quite a few games through injury.
'When you lose 18 goals you have to replace it.'

Even if you do take Tommy, he won\'t perform against us to the best of his ability.Rodgers is limited and thinks he knows the market; Watch Reading end up mid-table!

If Rodgers is so 'limitted' - why are you all so angry he's left?
This time next week you'll be saying Tommy Smith is limitted too!

We are not angry he left for Reading, we knew that would happen before the end of last season.
We're angry about his lack of honesty and the complete bull about people questioning his integrity whilst he was negotiating with your Chief Exec (who also happens to be his best friend).
You're welcome to his crab-like one dimensional game. We only starting winning games last season when he had to choose between reverting to Malky Mackays formation and tactics or get the push after a producing a dozen games of complete dross.
