Take a Royal bow: Reading are to unveil Brendan Rodgers as their new manager.
BRENDAN Rodgers could take his place in the Reading hotseat any time today (Thursday).
The Chronicle understands a compromise has been reached with Watford regarding compensation for the 36-year-old, who is returning to the club after five years away.
Royals will have to cough up close to £1 million for the services of the Northern Irishman and his trio of backroom staff, Frank Lampard snr, Dean Austin plus Karl Halabi, an ex-Reading youngster.
Chairman Sir John Madejski is set to confirm the appointment imminently
Rodgers was the club's Academy and reserve team manager for amost a decade before he was headbunted by ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho in 2004.
He then turned around Watford's fortunes last season, guiding them to 13th in the Championship after a poor start that cost Aidy Boothroyd his job in November.
Rodgers was picked from a 100-strong field that included Peterborough's Darren Ferguson, Preston's Alan Irvine, Exeter's Paul Tisdale, Alan Curbishley, Alan Pardew and former skipper Phil Parkinson.
It is three weeks since Steve Coppell quit his job as Royals' boss following the play-off defeat to Burnley.

Good appointment for a team of cheats
Hes only going to stay until the next general election as hes heard about the perks, and all you have to do is be a good liar.
