READING FC keeper George Legg could make his debut for Barnet this Saturday after joining the League Two club on loan for the rest of the season.

Legg made the switch to the Bees last night on a transfer deadline day that saw Royals sign Derby County striker Chris Martin on loan and winger Roy Beerens sold to Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem for a fee in the region of £500,000.

Reading boss Jaap Stam also snapped up Tommy Elphick on loan from Aston Villa on Monday and allowed midfielder Adrian Popa to sign for Saudi Arabia side Al-Taawoun on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

Legg, 21, is hoping to gain regular first-team experience under Barnet boss Graham Westley and could be in line for a start at promotion-chasing Mansfield Town this Saturday.

Tthe 6ft 4 ins stopper is likely to be busy throughout his stay with Barnet bottom of the table and fighting relegation from the league.

Legg has played 14 times for Reading Under 23s in Premier League 2 this season and has made three appearances in the Checkatrade Trophy.

His previous loan spells came in non-league football with Hungerford Town and Gosport Borough where he was highly regarded by both clubs.

Legg will battle it out with fellow keepers Craig Ross and Jamie Stephens for the number one jersey at Barnet.

Lewis is the third goalkeeper to have been loaned out by Reading this season with Jonathan Bond at League One Peterborough, Lewis Ward at National League outfit Aldershot and Luke Southwood at Bath City in National League South.

Outfield players Josh Barrett (Coventry City), Jake Sheppard (Guiseley) and Ade Shokunbi (Nuneaton) are also out on loan.
