ACADEMY Manager Lee Herron has left Reading FC, the club has confirmed.
Herron, who spent 17 years at the club, has left to pursue a 'brand new adventure' in football.
Last December, speculation mounted that he could be set to move to a role at Arsenal, though there has been no confirmation of this.
He originally joined the club on a part-time basis, before getting involved in the academy set-up.
After the tragic loss of Eamonn Dolan in June 2016, Herron became academy manager, while manager, he oversaw players such as Sam Smith, Liam Kelly, and Omar Richards graduating from the academy and making it into the first team.
It remains to be seen where Herron will move to next, and a replacement is expected to be announced in due course.
Reading FC released the following statement on their website: "Reading Football Club would like to place on record its thanks to Lee for his hard work during a long period of service within both our lauded Community Trust scheme and our esteemed Category One Academy system.
"We wish him the very best of luck in his future endeavours in football."
