READING FC Women might already be through to the quarter-finals of the FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup but they have a chance to top their group with victory over Millwall.

As for the Lionesses, they have the chance to prove themselves against a side from FA WSL 1 and can finish in a respectable third place if they cause an upset this Sunday when they clash at St Paul's Sports Ground (2pm ko).

Since their opening day defeat to Sunderland it has been a superb season for the Royals who have gone seven matches without defeat in all competitions.

Kelly Chamber's side has won five and drawn twice in those seven games including a 4-0 rout of London Bees in the Continental Tyres Cup last time out.

Goals have been the running theme for Millwall this season, netting 19 times in eight matches.

Lee Burch’s side have won their last two games as they dispatched London Bees in a 4-3 thriller and beat Oxford United 1-0 thanks to an early Ella Rutherford strike.

Reading captain Kirsty Pearce said: “It is unusual that London Bees was our last home game until the New Year, but we've done pretty well away from home this season, although I don't know what the stats are.

“Hopefully we can just carry on being unbeaten.

“We'll respect Millwall, just as we respected London Bees - we've been in that position ourselves, being in WSL2 playing against WSL1 teams.

“We know what Millwall are about - we played them during pre-season - so we know they're a physical side, but we'll prepare in the same way as we did the London Bees game.

“I'm sure the guys behind the scenes will analyse Millwall, like they've done every other game this season.”

Royals met Millwall in the Women’s FA Cup quarter-finals in March 20, 2016, with Reading prevailing 2-0 courtesy of Jade Boho-Sayo and Emma Follis’ second half efforts.

Reading have enjoyed the upper hand in this fixture, winning the last six meetings across league and cup competitions.

Fara Williams is also in red-hot form as her superb goal straight from the kick off against Arsenal certainly turned some heads.

Williams has five goals in eight matches in all competitions but hasn’t netted in her past two games and will be out to get back to scoring ways when the Royals travel to Millwall.

Millwall midfielder Charlotte Devlin added: "We’ve only lost a couple of games against some good teams. We have prepared really well to face a top team like Reading, they’ve played some fantastic football this season and I think they’re the dark horses of the competition.

“The cup is an opportunity to test ourselves against top sides like Reading. It’s a chance to challenge a really good team and see how far we’ve come. You can learn so much for teams like Reading and take that into our FA WSL 2 season."
