READING FC's transfer chiefs have less than 36 hours to conclude their business as Thursday's 11pm deadline looms, writes Courtney Friday.

Brian Tevreden and Ron Gourlay have been working behind the club's scenes and seven new additions have so far been added to Royals' ranks.

They include Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, Pelle Clement, Vito Mannone, Modou Barrow, Dave Edwards and Leandro Bacuna.

Meanwhile Reading finally secured long-term target Sone Aluko's signature yesterday after the 28-year-old forward penned a four-year deal at Madejski Stadium for a club-record £7.5m transfer fee.

But boss Jaap Stam recently revealed his determination to add another striker to his squad in order to mount a charge towards the top-end of the Championship table.

Below are some of the strikers Royals have been linked with.

Nelson Oliveira

Reading Chronicle:

Stam is a long-term admirer of the 26-year-old striker, who scored 15 goals for Norwich last season.

Royals have already seen several approaches knocked back as Canaries' boss Daniel Farke looks determined to drag his heels over a potential transfer.

However, with Yann Kermorgant stuck in the club's treatment room, it is understood Oliveira remains Royals' top-priorty target.

Speaking about the Portugese striker last weekend, Stam stated: “Oliveira is a great striker - he can be a big asset for us."

Jordan Hugill

Reading Chronicle:

Hugill put Reading to the sword in their recent 1-0 defeat to Preston North End at Deepdale and emerged as a transfer target almost immediately afterwards.

The striker handed in a transfer request yesterday and is determined to secure a move away from Preston, but club bosses stated categorically they will not sell the star forward.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Birmingham are both thought to be keen on signing Hugill.

Nahki Wells

Reading Chronicle:

Stam admitted Nahki Wells was on a list of several strikers Royals were looking at earlier in the transfer window.

Reports emerged that Reading had submitted a bid of up to £10m for Wells and the striker was dropped from Huddersfield's pre-season tour.

However, he suffered an ankle injury and had to undergo surgery, ruling him out for at least a month.

Reports today suggest Burnley are close to luring Wells to Turf Moor.

Royals have until 11pm tomorrow (Thursday) evening to complete their transfer business. Clubs are given an extra hour to send off the appropriate paperwork providing they can prove the deal was sorted before the deadline.

Reading has splashed out more than £10m on players so far already this window and it is understood that several players could potentially leave Madejski Stadium.

Stephen Quinn

Reading Chronicle:

Experienced Republic of Ireland international Quinn made his long-awaited return from an agonising injury spell last month.

The 31-year-old made his first Royals in their 3-1 win in the Carabao Cup over Millwall and lasted 70 minutes.

But he revealed after the match he could depart Madejski Stadium on loan in order to re-build his match fitness.

With Dave Edwards joining Royals on Saturday, it is understood Quinn is free to leave the club on a temporary basis.

Quinn's contract expires next summer.

Sandro Weiser

Reading Chronicle:

The Lichtenstein international has failed to make a single first-team appearance for Reading since he joined the club last summer.

Stam confirmed the midfielder is free to leave the club on loan and suggested he could benefit from playing for another English club.

However, Royals are yet to strike a deal with another team.

The Chronicle will keep you up to date with all Royals' transfer rumours and deals from 9am tomorrow right up until the deadline.
