DENISS Rakels and Jonathan Bond have today sealed loan switches away from Reading FC in search for regular first-team football.

Striker Rakels, who signed for Royals under Brian McDermott, has returned to Poland to join up with Lech Poznan, where he will spend the entire season.

The Latvian-born 24-year-old endured an injury plagued campaign under Jaap Stam.

Rakels returned to fitness and played several matches for his national side but Dutchman Stam ruled him out of Royals' first-team plans.

The forward enjoyed a prolific spell for Cracovia before joining the Royals 18 months ago and will be hoping to re-ignite his goalscoring form in the Polish Ekstraklasa.

He could make his debut on Thursday when Poznan face Macedonian outfit Pelister in a Europa League qualifier.

Meanwhile Bond, who has not made a first-team appearance for Reading for more than a year, has joined League One side Peterborough United on a six-month loan deal.

He signed for Royals under former boss Steve Clarke and made a string of first-team performances but soon fell out of favour.

Reading Chronicle:

Jonathan Bond has moved to Peterborough United until January

His place in the side was taken by veteran stopper Ali Al-Habsi, who has been awarded Royals' player of the year for the last two seasons in a row.

The 23-year-old made eight appearances for League One side Gillingham last season and will remain with Posh until January 3 next year.
