DERBY County have ended their pursuit of Reading FC director of football, Brian Tevreden.

The 35-year-old Dutchman was heavily linked with a move to the Rams last week as a replacement for technical director Chris Evans.

Evans was axed along with manager Steve McClaren and assistant Chris Powell as part of a major shake-up at Pride Park.

Reading Chronicle:

Ex-England boss Steve McCLaren was sacked by Derby County recently.

Tevreden was believed to be Derby's number one target following his success with rebuilding Reading's squad alongside boss Jaap Stam.

The pair have turned Royals' fortunes around in less than 12 months following a major overhaul of the squad.

Stam brought in 11 new players last summer and added another five in the January to transform a team that finished 17th in the Championship last season into one comfortably in the play offs.

The Reading manager last week spoke of his high regard for Tevreden and their close working relationship, having coached together at Ajax.

But Stam also suggested Reading 'will need to find somebody else' should Tevreden quit the Madejski Stadium.

However, the prospect of him leaving Royal now look remote, with the Derby Telegraph reporting the Rams are set to look elsewhere as new boss Gary Rowett settles into the job.
