ADRIAN Popa claims he is joining Reading FC from Steaua Bucharest.

The 28-year-old Romanian midfielder says he will sign for the Royals this weekend, thus becoming Jaap Stam's second new addition this month following Tiago Ilori's switch from Liverpool.

Popa made the announcement on his Facebook page, while Steaua also appear to confirm that claim on their official website, suggesting he will undergo a medical before penning a three-and-a-half year deal at Madejski Stadium.

Popa has made 137 league appearances for Steaua scoring 20 times.

He went there in 2012 after helping Concordia Chiajna win promotion to the first division.

Popa then secured three league titles and the Romanian Cup with Steaua, becoming a firm fans' favourite.

He also has three goals in 21 international games for the Romania.
