ASHTON Gate hero Yann Kermorgant revealed Reading FC refused to lose faith in their gameplan despite falling 2-0 behind.

A Tammy Abraham double put Bristol City in front before a Liam Kelly strike and Kermorgant brace helped Royals seal a dramatic 3-2 win on Monday.

Kermorgant’s goals took his tally to seven in 23 appearances this season and three in two games after his strike in the Boxing Day win over Norwich.

The striker stated: “We know how to play. We’ve got a plan and we have to stick to it, even if it didn’t work in the first half.

“Towards the end of the second half they started to drop and it gave us a bit more time.

"We managed the game and when we got the first goal we just kept going and kept believing we could do something.

“Sometimes a point is better than nothing especially after being 2-0 down, but we did really well to push for the win.”

Kermorgant also singled out Kelly for special praise after the Academy graduate netted his first Royals goal to give Jaap Stam's men a lifeline, then set up another for Kermorgant to make it 2-2.

“Liam has done well in the last few games," he stated.

"I told him when he came on he should show the gaffer why he should be playing and to show when you are on the bench you can make an impact when you come on.

“We played against a team that are struggling, but it shows that there are no easy wins in this league, so it was great to get the three points.

“We got a win, we were 2-0 down after not the best start. We still managed to get the result so it’s really good for the confidence.

“We want to keep that going now.”

Reading now face a mouthwatering FA Cup third-round clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford this Saturday (12.30pm ko, live BT Sport).
