ARSENAL are eyeing up a shock move for former Reading FC keeper, Dan Lincoln.

The 21-year-old was released by the Royals after failing to push for a place in the first team.

But he was recently handed a trial at the Gunners and could be offered a contract at The Emirates.

Lincoln, who is also a talented cricketer for Berkshire and Finchampstead, made a string of loan moves to non-league sides during his spell with Reading.

Last week he featured in an Arsenal XI game against Hitchin Town, making several smart stops during the game which ended 1-1.

Under 18s

READING FC Under 18s went level on points with the league leaders after making it two wins out of two against Tottenham Hotspur this season.

The Young Royals put in a fine display away from home and recorded a 2-1 victory, thanks to goals from Teddy Howe and an own goal from Spurs’ Mukena.

The win at Hotspur Lane puts the Under 18s on par with league leaders West Ham and Chelsea with 23 points so far.

Damp conditions failed to stop the young stars on the day, and early pressure from Reading saw the ball fall to Howe, whose shot cannoned off of a defender and into the back of the net.

The hosts levelled the scoreline on the cusp of half time, but a fine delivery from Ademola Shokunbi bounced off of the sliding Mukena and left the goalkeeper stranded to make it 2-1.

David Dodds’ U18s face Aston Villa at home this weekend.
