READING FC Academy keeper Luke Southwood has helped England Under 20s win the Four Nations tournament during the international break.

The 19-year-old helped Paul Williams' side keep a clean sheet in a 2-0 win against Netherlands in their opening fixture at Oldham Athletic's ground.

He was then rested for a 3-1 victory against Germany in Huddersfield before helping England keep another clean sheet in a 2-0 win against USA, with Southwood playing the second half at Rochdale's Spotland.

It has been a busy few days for the Royals on the international front.

Chris Gunter has been involved in two World Cup Group D qualifiers with Wales which ended in a 2-2 draw in Austria and a 1-1 home draw against Georgia in Cardiff, taking the number of caps won by the 27-year-old full-back to a staggering 75.

Reading skipper Paul McShane has been left on the bench for two Republic of Ireland's qualifiers, also in Group D.

The 30-year-old centre-back was an unused substitute as Martin O'Neill's men collected a maximum six points from a 1-0 home win against Georgia and a 3-1 win in Moldova which included an early goal from ex-Reading striker Shane Long.

Royals midfielder Stephen Quinn was forced to withdraw from the Ireland squad due to a hamstring injury.

Sandro Wieser, who is yet to play a first team game for Reading, lasted the full 90 minutes for Liechtenstein in a 2-1 loss in Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, John Swift (England U21s), Jake Sheppard and Zak Jules (both Scotland U21s), Josh Barrett (Republic of Ireland U19s) and Axel Andresson (Iceland U19s) could be involved with their countries tonight.
