ROB Dickie made a sensational return to Cheltenham Town by scoring in their 2-0 home win against Crewe Alexander on Saturday.

The 20-year-old defender last week joined League Two Cheltenham on loan until January, having enjoyed a promotion-winning spell at Whaddon Road last season.

He took just 15 minutes to mark his return to Gloucestershire with the opening goal in his first competitive appearance of the season.

Craig Tanner also made a winning return to League Two Plymouth Argyle by coming off the bench in their 1-0 victory at Blackpool at the weekend.

Tanner, 21, has re-joined Pilgrims until January after spending last season on loan at Home Park.

Goalkeeper Jonathan Bond tasted victory on his debut for loan club Gillingham at Shrewsbury in League One on Saturday.

The 23-year-old stopper, who has joined the Gills until January, made a number of important saves as they fought back from 2-0 down to win 3-2.

Meanwhile, Dickie and Tanner are set to face each other this weekend when Cheltenham take on Plymouth tomorrow.

Jack Stacey is also due to come up against Royals teammate Tariqe Fosu tomorrow after they sealed respective loan moves to Exeter City and Colchester United on transfer deadline day.

Elsewhere, defender Sean Long was an unused substitute for League Two Cambridge United in a 3-0 home defeat to another of his former loan clubs, Luton Town.

Aaron Kuhl was also on the bench for Boreham Wood’s trip to Gateshead as the London side earned a creditable 1-1 draw in the National League.

Reading U18s

READING Under 18s recorded their first win of the season with a 3-2 home victory against Fulham at Hogwood Park.

Isaac Pearce pulled one back for Fulham, but Royals held on to the delight of Dodds, who said: “Overall I feel it was a good performance.

“There was a little bit of grit in there, a little bit of artistry and a little bit of balance.

“With three goals from three different players, as well as young Ben House getting on the scoresheet, I’m pleased.”

Reading U18: Collings, Howe, Green, Shokunbi (Denton, 75), Odimayo, Philby, Rollinson, Coleman, House, Frost, Holsgrave (Wilson, 85). Subs not used: Balogun, Hillson, Buchanan.
