HAL Robson-Kanu has taken to social media to thank Reading FC fans for their backing after signing for West Bromwich Albion on transfer deadline day.

Robson-Kanu received stinging criticism from Royals supporters for claiming that leaving his contract run down with the club was the 'best decision of my life.'

Robson-Kanu progressed through Reading's Academy sides to the first-team, but had no desire to sign a new deal when his old one expired at the end of last season.

He spent 12 years with the Royals, making 247 appearances and scoring 30 goals.

The 27-year-old went to Euro 2016 with Wales as a free agent, only to score the goal of the tournament in a 3-1 win against Belgium as Chris Coleman's side reached the semi-finals.

Robson-Kanu's exploits in France put him firmly in the shop window and, with a number of options available, he penned a three-year deal at Premier League West Brom yesterday afternoon.

The Acton-born forward is reuinited with ex-Reading director of football, Nick Hammond, who now fulfills a similar role at The Hawthorns.

Robson-Kanu tweeted: "ReadingFC and all of the supporters - thank you for helping me achieve my dreams during my 12 years of service."

However, Robson-Kanu's message has not gone too well with many Reading fans on social media.

Meanwhile, Royals fans are also up in arms after the club was fined £5,000 by the FA earlier today.
