READING FC have been fined £5,000 by the Football Association following an incident in their 4-1 defeat at Newcastle United last month.
Royals have been penalised for failing to control their players after former transfer target Dwight Gayle punched the ball into the net in the third minute at St James' Park.
Referee Andy Madley awarded the goal but then overturned his decision after consulting with his linesman.
Gayle was also booked for deliberate handball, which left Reading players furious.
However, the FA deemed Jaap Stam's men went too far with their remonstrations.
The FA tweeted: “Reading have been fined £5000 after being charged for failing to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.
“It follows an incident in the third minute of the game against Newcastle United on 17 August 2016.”
Gayle went on to score twice for Rafa Benitez's Magpies on the night.
However, Reading fans have criticised the FA for their decision to impose a fine.

Absolute disgrace. It's as if they expect us to nod our heads and accept a blatant bit of cheating #readingfc https://t.co/LVt6ftQLzD@FA yeah why bother punishing the player who tried to CHEAT!! But yeah who cares about the integrity of the game! #readingfc
