READING FC are poised to win their battle to sign Liam Moore from Leicester City.

The Leicester Mercury is reporting that Moore will undergo a medical later today before joining Royals for around £1 million.

Moore's capture will finally bring an end to the long-running transfer saga that has rumbled on for weeks.

Reading's hopes of landing the 23-year-old defender looked to have been dashed when the Foxes said they did not want to sell, despite failing to issue Moore with a squad number and first-team locker.

Premier League champions City had offered Moore a new contract, stating they would rather he went out on loan.

However, Moore, who graduated through the club's Academy, said he was looking for a permanent move in a bid to secure regular first-team football.

Earlier this summer he tweeted: "New season just around the corner. No squad number at lcfc but that's football. Hope a agreement is sorted shortly & I can get playing!"

But when Leicester seemed intent on blocking a permanent move, Stam was forced to voice his frustration, saying: “Sometimes you have to look at what’s best for the player.

“Can you send him on loan, can you sell him or does he need to develop?

“I don’t know the whole situation but I think for him he needs to be playing somewhere.”

However, it appears the Foxes have since relented and Moore looks set to sign a four-year deal at Madejski Stadium.

He will become the club's 10th signing this summer and second this week following the arrival of Liechtenstein midfielder, Sandro Wieser.

Moore did play for Leicester in their friendly against Oxford United recently, but has since been left in the development squad.

He broke into their first team in 2011 and made 59 appearances, scoring one goal. He also spent time on loan with Bristol City and Brentford.

Meanwhile, Royals continue to be linked with Manchester United defender, Tyler Blackett.
