IT was a good day at the office for Great Britain's coxless fours who qualified for the semi-finals on the first day of rowing competition.
The quartet, who included stroke Peter Chambers and Jono Clegg, both from Maidenhead, finished second behind former world champions in the second heat.
The team, which also included Mark Aldred and bow Chris Bartley, had come into the event with an encouraging bronze medal won at the final World Cup event in Poznan.
They were never able to head the powerful Danes, former Olympic champons and world champions two years ago.
The Britons trailed the Danes by 1.67 seconds at half way, and placed just a canvas down after 2,000m checking in with 40 strokes a minute.
