ANSSI Jaakkola has become Reading's fourth signing this summer after penning a two-year deal at Madejski Stadium.

The 6ft 5ins goalkeeper becomes the first player from Finland to join the Royals ranks after making the switch from South African top-flight club, Ajax Cape Town, for an undisclosed fee.

The well-travelled stopper played in Italy with Sienna and Colligiana and in the Czech Republic with Slavia Prague before moving to the UK in 2011 to join Scottish side Kilmarnock.

He made 14 appearances under fellow Finn Mixu Paatelainen and went on to gain his one and only international cap during his time at Rugby Park.

He moved to South Africa in 2013 and made 78 league appearances for Ajax Cape Town before returning to the UK with Reading.

Jaakkola passed a medical at Madejski Stadium and signed his contract earlier today before flying out to Holland tonight to join the rest of the Reading squad for their pre-season tour.

However, Reading have been told they must cough up more cash if they want to sign Ben Coker from Southend United, having failed with three bids.

Royals have made three signings so far with the capture of Dutch duo Danzell Gravenberch and Joey van den Berg plus French striker, Joseph Mendes.
