EX-READING FC duo Alex Pearce and Mikele Leigertwood will be lacing up their boots for promotion-winning Hungerford Town at the Mortimer FC Charity Day this Sunday.

The former Royals will be turning out for the Crusaders against a Mortimer Select XI in the main match at 2.45pm.

Leigertwood is now part of the coaching team at Hungerford and is a good friend of their manager Bobby Wilkinson, while Pearce is at Championship club Derby County.

They were both key members of Brian McDermott’s squad that won promotion to the Premier League in 2012, Leigertwood scoring the goal against Nottingham Forest that ultimately sent them up.

Hungerford also have plenty to celebrate after sealing promotion to National League South, and a number of their players will also be on show this weekend.

The Charity Day starts with an all-Mortimer clash between Past Players and Vets at 12.30pm at Alfred Palmer Memorial Ground.

There is a strong bond between Hungerford and Mortimer, who provide Crusaders with regular matches and friendlies throughout the year.

Wilkinson is keen to thank Mortimer chairman Ady Keep for all his assistance by taking part in the Charity Day.

As well as two matches, there will be a BBQ and a licensed bar and a bumper crowd is expected, with parking available on-site.

The day is sponsored by David Cliff Estate Agents and Budgens of Mortimer.
