READING FC manager Brian McDermott says his side will not under-estimate rock bottom Bolton Wanderers when they visit the Macron Stadium on Saturday (3pm), writes Richard Ashton.

The Trotters languish six points adrift at the foot of the table and 13 points shy of safety following a difficult campaign, and recently replaced former manager Neil Lennon with Jimmy Phillips.

They were thrashed 6-0 at fellow strugglers Bristol City last time out and Reading will be hoping to end a five-match winless run of their own at Wanderers’ expense.

But McDermott said: “It’s disrespectful to say Bolton is an easy game and it’s just not true. We all know there’s never an easy game in this division, in any division in England."

He continued: “We’re going in there with the utmost respect for their staff, their players and their football club.

“They’ve changed the manager but I can’t worry too much about the opposition. Peter Reid has gone in their so they’ve got that experience and Jimmy Phillips is in there, a football man.

“They got a poor result against Bristol City but prior to that their games have been tight, and the experience they’ve got on the bench and on the pitch, we know this is going to be a tough game.”

However, he added: “It’s an important game and we want to go there and put on a good performance and get the right result.”

Royals then return to Madejski Stadium against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night (8pm).
