McCleary was instrumental throughout the 3-0 victory, creating one goal and scoring another as Steve Clarke's side swept aside Phil Parkinson's League One visitors at Madejski Stadium.

The alleged incident was said to have occurred shortly before half-time as the 27-year-old Reading winger collected the ball to take a corner in front of the Bradford fans.

The Jamaican international spoke to the linesman who passed a message on to the fourth official, before police were informed.

It took just minutes for the police to identify and arrest a 36-year-old man from Bradford at half-time.

Police have since confirmed the man has been bailed until April 16 pending further enquiries.

Reading issued a short statement following full-time stating that an incident had taken place and confirming a man had been arrested and ejected from the stadium.

“An incident was reported to the match officials just before half time, who in turn told Reading staff. A man was then arrested and ejected during the half-time interval," the statement said.

Clarke completely missed the incident and said that McCleary hadn't mentioned it to him during or after the game.

“I can't speak about something I don't know anything about,” he said. “Until I get any details on it then it's better for me not to speak.”
