We’ll be working on improving those elements of our game but credit to all the team, this was a huge success for us. Once again, Shane put in another game-changing performance in the No.12 jersey, converting six out of seven opportunities.

This was my first time playing at Leicester and it was obvious to see why it’s one of the best stadiums. Big stands which practically sit on top of the small pitch, passionate supporters and a rich history. It was great to see so many Irish fans make the effort to be there so thanks to those who made the journey!

Against Sarries the week before it went almost exactly to plan. They were there for the taking and a great effort by the boys saw us leading 32-29 with two minutes to go.

A few errors deep in our half allowed them to build pressure which culminated in them kicking for the corner and going over with a driving maul to win the game 32-36.

The boys were gutted. If we had hung on to the win, it would have got people talking. This wasn’t about Sarries having a bad day, this was about a clinical Irish team really causing a stir. Special mention goes to Alex Lewington who grabbed a hat-trick on his birthday with three great finishes.

Off the pitch saw the launch of Jebb Sinclair’s #canadianchic interviews on twitter.

Over the course of last season Jebb was unanimously voted worst dressed at the club in the Tuesday Teamtalk feature. His frequent combination of Birkenstocks, shorts and vests baffled the boys yet Jebb insisted this was the norm in his homeland.

The arrival of Geoff Cross in the summer has taken fashion at the club to new lows. Whereas Jebb describes his style as ‘Canadian Chic’ Geoff’s is best summed up as ‘homeless’.

I’ll be very surprised if Jebb manages to hold onto his title but, while he does, check out his interviews with the boys to see a more relaxed side to everyone.
