POWERFUL winger John Rudd has been rewarded for his good form over the last two months by signing a contract with London Irish until the end of the season.

The former Newcastle Falcons back initially signed on a three-week trial period back in October to cover for injuries to Topsy Ojo, Adam Thompstone and Delon Armitage.

However, after making seven first team appearances and opening his account with a try against Worcester Warriors in the Exiles last Guinness Premiership game earlier this month, head coach Toby Booth has decided to offer the 28-year-old a contract.

Booth said: "John is a strong and quick back who has impressed since he arrived in October.

"He has taken his opportunity to show what he can add to our squad and we're pleased that he will be with us until the end of the season at least."

Rudd is delighted to have agreed terms with the club and is looking forward to the remainder of the season.

He said: "I'm pleased with the ways things have gone since I arrived at London Irish.

"It's good to be part of a squad that wants to play attractive, entertaining rugby and I'm looking forward to contributing to that going forward."
