FOUR-TRY hero Theo Brophy Clews hailed his pack after scoring four tries in London Irish's 47-17 European Challenge Cup win against Krasny Yar on Saturday.

The Russians led 10-7 at the break, but Brophy Clews' efforts, allied to a maiden Exiles try from Ben Loader in the first half, and Lovejoy Chawatama and Joe Cokanasiga scores in the second, sealed a comprehensive win.

Brophy Clews said: "It was good fun. We put a lot of work in in the first half which wasn't quite recognised, but the second half was really good fun. Everyone really came out firing.

"The forwards did so much work with those mauls, and I had to score the first one, and then their defence kind of opened up a little bit. Their first half was really good, but they fell away a little bit in the second half.

"I don't score many tries so to get four, I'm pretty happy."

The 20-year-old is now hoping to follow-up the victory with another against Krasny Yar, in the return match before Irish play Wasps and Cardiff Blues in the Anglo-Welsh Cup.

They then face a key trio of Aviva Premiership fixtures at home to Worcester, away to Northampton and home to Sale.

Brophy Clews said: “We always speak about the momentum that a win can bring and hopefully we can take some form into the Anglo-Welsh Cup and then onto the Aviva Premiership.”
