EVERY section of Tadley RFC was present when BT Sport Rugby filmed their weekly show on Monday.

Members of sides from Under 6 to the first XV were on hand as presenters Sarra Elgin, ex-England international Ugo Monye and London Irish’s Topsy Ojo hosted the show, which was broadcast last night and featured their weekly round-up of news and action from the week’s domestic and European matches.

They interacted with the crowd, undertaking the besom broom initiation, meeting the players, founder members, and signing articles of memorabilia in between filming.

The London Irish Community team were also involved, throwing the ball around with the youngsters, while mascot Digger was also on hand.

Tadley’s senior squad participated in the coaching masterclass, which included high ball catching, while it all got competitive for the smash-o-meter as players showed their strength on hitting a tackle bag.

The evening was finished off with a Q&A session with final advice from Ugo Monye, who told the youngsters: “Believe in yourself. Don’t let anyone ever tell you you can’t do something.”

Simon Lapham, Junior chairman and ex-first XV Tadley captain, said: “The presence of every age group at the event, captured the essence of our club “It was a great opportunity to showcase our rural community club, which draws players and supporters from all surrounding towns, and local primary and secondary schools.

“We work closely with London Irish and the RFU and are pleased that London Irish chose us as their representation of grass roots rugby.”
