LONDON Irish legend Topsy Ojo has spoken of his pride at reaching 400 points for the club – but says he is far from finished yet.

The 31-year-old notched his 79th and 80th tries during his side’s 39-10 St Patrick’s Party victory against Cornish Pirates, and is also now just eight games away from breaking Justin Bishop’s all-time record number of Irish caps.

The former England international said: “London Irish is an amazing club and to have scored 400 points for them is very pleasing.

“I’m enjoying playing for the club and my aim is to build on this milestone and to do what I can to help the team gain promotion back to the Premiership.”

He continued: “It’s an absolute honour to have played for London Irish for more than a decade – when making my debut I could never have imagined that I would play so many games for them and become the club’s record try-scorer.”

Exiles suffered their first Greene King IPA Championship defeat of the season when they lost 15-11 at Jersey Reds on Saturday, having previously racked up 17 consecutive victories.

Nick Kennedy’s men are guaranteed to finish top of the table going into the play-offs, and Ojo also remains confident that they can seal their target of making a return to the Aviva Premiership.

He said: “The Championship has been a tough test for us this season, but we’ve put ourselves in a great position and as a squad we are itching to finish off the good work we’ve started.”
