NICK Kennedy insists London Irish will not be resting on their laurels after maintaining their winning start to the Green King IPA Championship season.

Exiles ran in six tries on Saturday on their way to a convincing 36-12 bonus-point victory over Richmond at Madejski Stadium.

That win followed their opening day victory against Doncaster Knights, and with a trip to struggling Bedford Blues to come this Saturday, Irish could soon be three from three as they bid to bounce back to the Aviva Premiership.

However, director of rugby Kennedy insists there is still plenty of room for improvement from the Exiles squad after accusing them of easing up in the second half against Richmond.

“I was very happy to get the win and I was pleased with the bonus-point as we look to keep our home form up for the season,” said the 34-year-old.

“There are a few areas we need to work on, and our intensity maybe dropped off a little bit in the second half, but we will address that during the week.

“There is still a lot of work for us to do in the build-up to next week’s game.”

Irish used their rolling maul to great effect against Richmond and Kennedy believes it will be a useful weapon in the weeks to come.

“Our mauling was top notch and George Skivington works extremely hard with the boys - they have had a long pre-season with lots of mauling sessions,” he added.

“It’s great to see that hard work in training paying off in front of all of our supporters.”

Irish go to Bedford Blues this Saturday then return to Madejski Stadium on September 25 when Ealing Trailfinders are the visitors.
