The youngster carded a gross 70 in the opening round of the 36-hole competition. He then finished with 40 points in the afternoon’s stableford competition after equaliing the course record with a gross 68.

Runner up was Graham Parris with a nett 74 in the morning and 40 points in the afternoon game, while James Darvall was placed third with a nett 73 in the morning and 37 points in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, Park’s 20 Section Captain, Graham Harwood, held his Captain’s Day competitions last Saturday.

Andy Scholes (19 hcp) won the 18-hole stableford competition with a very credible 43 points. Steve Cox (21 hcp) was second with 42 points, on countback from James Strang (23hcp).

The best score on the par 5’s went to John Carpenter and the best on the par 3’s was Allan Cook.

Caversham Heath COLIN Leighton took the top prize in Division One of the October Midweek Medal at Caversham Heath.

Leighton (16hcp) shot nett 73, while Barney Wytchard (5hcp) was second with nett 75.

Third was Paul Clemas (6hcp), on countback from Roger Landon (11hcp), both with nett 80s.

The Division Two winner was Simon Dicketts (28hcp), on countback from John Glass (20hcp), who both shot nett 76. Trevor Houghton (28hcp) was third with nett 81.

Twos were recorded by Tony Gonzalez (13th hole) and by Stephen Howes (8th hole).

Hollis Boisson and Fung Yee Sarah Lau claimed the October Vase with 40 points. Kevin Whiting and Issy Wiggins-Turners who scored 36 points, finished as runners-up on countback from Anne Smith and David Stankard.

Barney Wytchard is the new Kearney Cup holder after defeating Ian Traynor in the final.

Andrew Parker and Chris Parker have won the R&A Cup competition, beating Greg McDonald and Jon Winstanley in the final, while Anne Smith is the 2014 Order of Merit winner.

The competition ran from April until the end of September, with players awarded 30 points for a win, 29 points for second all the way down to one point for playing.

Smith played in five events and amassed 103 points, with her highest single points total being 29. Second was Tony George, with 96 points from four events and third was Barry Reynolds with 83 points.

Sonning JILL Shirley and Ramesh Naik won the Sieff Cup Mixed Greensomes at Sonning Golf Club with 39 points, beating Barbara Shanks and Des Harwin, who scored 37, into second place in Sunday’s competition.

Michelle & Kevin James finished third with 34 points.

The Junior McDougall Trophy was won by Damien Hewitt (2 hcp) on Saturday after he shot a 70 to beat James Brady (5hcp) into second, with the latter shooting 78. Seb Jones (5hcp) grabbed third place with a score of 82.
