CALCOT Park’s 20 Section held their annual Greensomes match with the ladies' section.

Angela Church and Ray Buckland won the event with 39 stableford points, easing out Ray Lloyd and Kate Courtnage into second place who scored 38.

In the seniors’ end-of-season stableford, it was 11-handicapper, Alan Horscroft, who took the honours with an impressive 43 points.

Runner-up was seniors captain, Chris Millard, with 42 points, while John Barnett was third with 41 points.

In the October Monday Medal, 15-handicapper, Martin Cottingham, pipped Nigel Clark to the post in winning with a nett 73 against the latter’s 74.

David Bethall was third with 76.

  • CARL McCartney put together two top-draw rounds of golf to win both the first and second rounds of the Gillas Cup at West Berks.

Having won round one with 42 points last week he scored 39 to win this week’s competition by three shots.

A three-way tie on 36 points was resolved on count-back in the order of Steve Cox, Mark Charlton and John Carroll.

John Harris won the midweek stableford by five shots returning 39 points.

A three-way tie on 34 was decided on count-back with Peter Hobbs placed second, Alexander Anderson third and Graham Miles fourth.

The midweek mixed competition was won by Mike Sparvell, Simone Diamond and Jane Willmore with 77 points.

Second with 76 were Martin Neville, Sandy Miller and Lyn Pell, while Kevin Forder, Sian Soanes and Mary Harwood were third with 74.5.

The men’s Saturday team ended their season on a high with a 4-2 away win at Broome Manor while the Central Sevens team suffered a disappointing 5½-1½ away defeat at Carswell.
