MORE than 50 members took part in this year’s club championship at Theale, with scratch golfer Keith Dawson claiming the honours.

At the end of the first day, Dawson was one of three players, along with Andrew Loseby and Chris Bowyer, in contention having shot an 81.

However, the sunshine of the first day, gave way to almost continuous rain and on the second day he stormed ahead with an impressive 76, giving him a score of 157 for the championship.

Also shrugging off the worsening weather was Ian Forester who shot a 77 to take the runners-up spot, but his 84 on day one, left him four shots short of Dawson (pictured with club captain Scott Straker) with a total score of 161.

Two shots further back on 163 was Loseby, who followed his 81 with an 82.
