MALCOLM Bell and Peter McGeachie came out on top as 44 pairs entered a stableford shotgun competition hosted by outgoing Reading GC captains Brendan McKevitt and Pat Holzherr.

The winning pair’s stunning total of 46 points earned them first place, while ladies’ captain Holzherr presented a cheque for £5,088.96 towards the Arrhythmia Alliance-Lilly May Page on behalf of the club.

The money raised will be used to install automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in four local schools.

  • JOHN Adams and Mark Gleed won a stableford competition consisting of 104 entrants by three points, totalling an impressive 44 for victory.

Kevin Basterfield and Robert Webb were second with 41 points.

  • ANDREW Parker stormed to victory by six points in Division One of the Weekend Stableford at Caversham Heath.

Parker (9hcp) recorded a superb 44 points, while runner-up was Gareth Goodall (9hcp) with 38 points and third was Michael Deignan (6hcp), on countback from Carl Bache, both with 37.

Division Two winner was Duncan Peart (15hcp), on countback from Neil Ruegg (18hcp), both with 39 points. Third was Philip Wise (16hcp), on countback from Edward Houghton (15hcp), both with 38 points.

John Endersby (19hcp) took the Division Three prize with 38 points, two clear of Mark Russell (25hcp) and Joseph Lawrence (19hcp).

Twos were recorded by Mark Farrington, Duncan Peart and Dave Williams (all on the 8th hole), Jack Bristow, Richard Craven, Matt Jones and Philip Wise (13th) and Edward Houghton and Jones (17th).

Andy King (11hcp) claimed top spot in Division One of the Midweek Stableford with 40 points. Duncan Mee (15hcp) was second, on countback on from Steve Streak (12hcp), both with 39 points.

Division Two winner Tony Flood (22hcp) recorded 44 points to seal victory by three from Glen Dudman (20hcp). Third was Colin Parkes (20hcp) with 37 points.

Twos were recorded by Gary King (8th hole), Dudman (13th hole) and by Caroline Dover and Flood (17th hole).

Daniel Dover (20hcp) and Colin Parkes (20hcp) claimed the Seniors Winter Greensomes title after defeating Kjersti Cannon (22hcp) and Richard Drury (18hcp) 2&1 in the final.
