THE new Calcot Park ladies captain, Maureen Rogers, held her ceremonial drive-in watched by members and friends on Sunday.

Rogers (pictured), along with club captain, Barry Sharp, will be supporting the children’s charity, Make a Wish, which grants magical wishes to enrich the lives of children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions.

  • GARETH Goodall claimed victory in the first Weekend Stableford of the New Year at Caversham Heath.

Goodall (6hcp) recorded 34 points (even halves of 17 points) to take the Division One prize ahead of Michael Beaumont (6hcp) with 31 points. Deighton Sear (9hcp) came third with 30 points.

Division Two winner was Gareth Ford (12hcp) with 38 points. Duncan Peart (15hcp) was second with 36 points and third was Simon Walker (13hcp), on countback from Andy Horn (16hcp), both with 33.

Steve Wright (24hcp) took the Division Three prize on countback from Raef North (28hcp) – both with 37 points – while Simon Read was third (20hcp) with 35 points.

Twos were recorded by Neil Scott and Christopher Bennett (both on the 8th hole), Richard Monk (13th hole) and by Kevin Clark and Lynne Rumbold (both on the 17th hole).

Andy Holmes (16hcp) finished top of the pile in Division One of the Midweek Stableford with 39 points. Runner-up was Lee Kirton (11hcp) with 16 points and third was Roger Landon (14hcp) with 37 points.

Division Two winner was Scott (19hcp) with 39 points. Second was Jim McGiveron (20hcp) with 37 points and third was Jonathon Clark (25hcp) with 36.

The only two of the competition was scored by John Davies on the 17th hole.

l JASON Kendal (4hcp), who ended 2016 with a strong run of results, started 2017 in similar style shooting a three-under par 70 to score 43 points and win the men’s winter stableford competition at West Berks GC.

Recording five birdies, he won by five shots from a five-way tie for second place that was resolved on count-back with Monty Kingston taking the runners-up spot and Kendal’s brother, Mark, coming third.

Gale McAuley won the ladies' winter stableford with 34 points from Mary Harwood who scored 32. Ann Davies was a further shot behind in third place,
