Caversham Heath

There was a very tight finish in Division 1 of the Weekend Stableford at Caversham Heath with countback needed to decide the top three places.

Callum Peart (5hcp) emerged triumphant to win from Will Tate (5hcp) and Andrew Parker (9hcp), all with 37 points.

Peart, halves of 16 and 21, recorded 12 pars and one birdie and won despite bogeying the last. Tate had halves of 17 and 20, recording 10 pars and two birdies. Parker (halves of 17 and 20) had 10 pars and a birdie, but will be kicking himself after finishing double bogey, bogey.

David Holloway (12hcp) won Division 2, on countback from David Cuthbertson (12hcp), both with 39 points.  Third was Duncan Peart (15hcp) with 38 points.

Holloway (halves of 19 and 20) finished with three bogeys while Cuthbertson went out in 21 points and came back in 18 points. However, he finished double bogey, bogey. Peart had halves of 20 and 18, but ended with a double.

Division 3 winner was Luke Penn (23hcp) with 38 points.  Runner-up was Nigel Eyre (19hcp) with 36 points and third was Richard Osborne (19hcp), on countback from Darren Lawrence (19hcp), both with 34 points.

Twos were recorded by Jonathan Fleming, Chris Parker, Duncan Peart and Barry Reynolds (all on the 8th hole), Callum Peart and Philip Wise (both on the 13th hole) and by Stephen Girling (17th hole).

Mathew Brakspeare (7hcp) won Division 1 of the Midweek Stableford, on countback from John Davies (18hcp), both with 36 points.  Third was Scott Iremonger (13hcp) with 35 points.

Spare a thought for Davies who was in prime position for victory standing on the last tee.  However, he recorded a triple bogey for no points.

Division 2 winner was Stuart Barnett (19hcp) with 40 points, despite a double bogey on the last hole. Runner-up was Toby Joyce (27hcp), on countback from Garfield Bryant (21hcp) and Geoff Parlour (19hcp), all with 39 points. Joyce lost his chance of victory with a triple bogey on the par 3 17th hole.

The only two of the competition was recorded by Santiago Fernandez-Garcia on the 17th hole.
