CALCOT Park’s junior team has reached the final of the Junior Stags Trophy, organised by the Thames Valley Junior Golf League (TVJGL),after beating North Hants 4-2 in their last four clash, writes Richard Ashton.

Steve O’Connor won the President’s Plate with a stableford haul of 43 points, five clear of runner-up, the club chairman Roy Burt.

Duncan Morgan-Russell was third with 37 points, but picked up the nearest the pin prize on the par 3, 7th hole.

Frank Kelly won the prize on the 17th.

The competition was open to anyone with a handicap of 20 or more.

  • SEAMUS Smith claimed the Division One honours in the Midweek Medal at Caversham Heath.

Smith (3 hcp) recorded 11 pars, three birdies and an eagle as he shot nett 68 to claim victory. Runner-up was David Holloway (12hcp) with nett 70 and third was Anderson Goddard (18hcp) with a 71.

The Division Two winner was Stuart Walker (27hcp) with nett 70. Gordon Berry (20hcp) was six shots back in second place and third was Steve Wright (23hcp) with a round of 80.

Debbie Harris (25hcp) won the Amber Rose bowl with 36 points (halves of 17 and 19 points). Runner-up was Rachel Downey with 35 points, two clear of Kathy North (29hcp).

  • PATRICK Anderson’s (20 hcp) first hole-in-one on the 18th was not enough to knock Maggie Easton (30 hcp) off the top as overall winner of the August Midweek Medal qualifier at Mapledurham GC.

Easton shot a stunning nett 63 to beat runner up Mathew Iremonger (11hcp) by three shots. He in turn finished ahead of Darrien Cleary (15hcp) on countback, the pair returning nett 66s.

Division One was a duel between Iremonger, Cleary and Steve Adey (13hcp) who all returned nett 66 on their cards with Iremonger taking top spot.

Theodora Farley (16hcp) took Division Two with a nett 71, with John Roberts (18hcp) edging four other players on countback. Gary Wetherley (18hcp) was third.

Easton completely dominated Division Three with her heroics, while Carole Gardner (20hcp) was second with a 68 and Cliff Emery (23hcp) third on 69.
