Third were Neil Scott (16hcp) and David Cumming (25hcp), on countback from John North (20hcp) and Daniel Dover (19hcp), both pairs with 39 points.

Debbie Harris (25hcp) won the Amber Rose bowl with 36 points (halves of 17 and 19 points). Runner-up was Rachel Downey with 35 points despite finishing with five consecutive pars. However two nil returns proved costly. Third was Kathy North (29hcp) with 33 points.

Andy Holmes won the 9-hole stableford competition with 38 points. Second was Duncan Mee with 37 points and third was club captain Luis Mesquita (pictured below), on countback from Richard Norris and Sean Houghton, all with 36 points. The only two of the competition was recorded by Richard Serrano on the 8th hole.

  • THE Mapledurham GC Midweek July Stableford, which attracted an entry of 93, was a virtual walkover for the lady members. On the hottest day of the year the men just melted away leaving Linda Pitt (19 hcp) the overall winner with a scintillating score of 43 points.

Due to a recent surge in form, Pitt had her handicap cut by 3. Runner-up was Teresa Taylor (12hcp) carding a score of 41.

Taylor won Division One with her 41 points, while second place required a count back on 39 points with James Weatherley (16hcp) pipping Iain Goodall (14hcp).

Division Two was clearly Pitt’s with 43 ahead of Alex Robinson (19hcp) on 38 followed by John Roberts (18hcp) with 36 points.

Division Three saw Michael Nankervis just hold off the ladies with a round of 37 points followed by Val Ochonski (21hcp) and Audrey Turton (24hcp), both on 36, who required a count back to determine Ochonski finished second.
