RICHARD and Sianell White were victorious in the highly popular Wellington Hall Trophy at Calcot Park recently.

The annual 36-hole Open Tournament has been running for some 60 years and is played as a Mixed Foursomes Medal, initiated by past Calcot Park member, William Wellington Hall who had the well-known builders’ merchants, W W Hall, for many years.

The event attracts golfing couples from all over southern England. and the Whites won with a two-round score of 133.4.

Richard is a member at Ferndown Golf Club in Dorset and Sianell plays at Knighton Heath Golf Club in Bournemouth.

Second Place went to Matthew Storey (Downshire Golf Club) and Charlotte Williams (Easthampstead Ladies Golf Club) scoring 135.8; and third place went to Henry Scott and Verity Scott (Buckinghamshire Golf Club) who scored 136.8.

Matt Roberston (3hcp) claimed the top honours in Division One of the Weekend Medal at Caversham Heath. He recorded 17 pars and two bogeys in his round of nett 72.

The runner-up was Chris Green (5hcp), on countback from Gareth Goodall (5hcp) and Richard Craven (1hcp), all with nett 73.

Green recorded one birdie and six bogeys while Goodall had five bogeys. Craven had an eagle, one par and two bogeys, but a double bogey on the 16th hole proved very costly.

Division Two winner was Jack Turrill (16hcp) with nett 70. Two shots further back was Andrew Thompson (13hcp), and Gareth Ford (12hcp), both with nett 72, however, Thompson gained second spot on countback.

Thompson bogeyed five of his last six holes and was eight shots over on his back seven holes. Ford missed out with a double bogey on the 16th and the 18th holes.

Eric Mumm (23hcp) won Division Three with nett 71, despite a quadruple bogey on the last hole.

Lynne Rumbold (17hcp) recorded one birdie, but double bogeyed the last to finish second on nett 73. Third was Nigel Eyre (19hcp) on 77, but he too double bogeyed the last hole.
