The Royals have taken just seven points from their last 10 games but have always been comfortably clear of the relegation zone due to the poor form of the teams below them.
Steve Clarke refused to take anything for granted though and often highlighted the need for Reading to mathematically be safe from relegation before he could plan for next season.
The Royals would've had a chance to secure their own safety this evening against Birmingham (8pm) but it was handed to them last night as late goals from Rudy Gestede and Jordan Rhodes gave Blackburn Rovers a 2-0 win over Millwall, leaving Neil Harris' side seven points behind Reading with just two games remaining.
Safety could see Clarke shuffle his pack for tonight's visit of Birmingham, with Niall Keown, Aaron Kuhl and Jake Cooper pushing for a start.
