The 31-year-old has scored three goals in six games since joining from the Eagles on September 1.

The former Brighton striker announced his arrival by tweeting the move would be turned into a permanent switch when the January transfer window opens.

But Palace co-chairman Steve Parish said this week that nothing formal had been agreed.

“There are certain things in there that I would not want to comment on,” he said. “It is all up in the air, but he has definitely not signed for Reading.”

And Palace boss Neil Warnock expanded on Murray's loan deal on national radio today: "It's within our powers as and when we call him back," he stated.

"Glenn wanted to play week-in-week-out. I could see his point of view, he came and saw me and pleaded with me to give him the chance.

"I felt he deserved it after what he had done for the club. He was one of the main reasons the club got promoted so I felt obliged to let him have some games, he wasn't going to get a regular game here."

Meanwhile, Reading will be hosting an open day at Madejski Stadium during the half-term school holidays.

First-team players will be training on the pitch before signing autographs on Tuesday, October 28.
