It is understood that Norwood has undergone a medical at Hogwood and will sign for Reading tomorrow (Thursday), in time for Saturday’s game at Nottingham Forest.

Royals boss Nigel Adkins is open to the possibility of the Manchester United academy product joining the club.

“There’s a chance something could happen,” he admitted.

“He’s been linked with us so we’ll have to wait and see how that one materialises.

“He’s not figured for them, so maybe there could be something in the offing.” If he joins, Norwood will become Adkins’ fourth signing in the past two weeks following a summer of uncertainty.

The central midfielder will follow Anton Ferdinand, Simon Cox and Jamie Mackie through the door, adding vital experience to the Reading midfield.

Norwood has made 98 Championship appearances in his career, scoring 10 goals. But he has not figured in either of Huddersfield’s two league games since their opening day defeat.
