SIMON Church is confident he can secure regular first-team football in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old scored seven goals in 31 Championship games for the Royals last season, though only 17 of those were starts.

And competition for places will be even harder in the Premier League following the arrival of Russian international Pavel Pogrebnyak.

However, Wales forward Church still has faith in his ability to cut it in the top flight.

"Last season was tremendous for Reading," said Wycombe-born Church. "We finished up as champions, we're up into the Premier League and it's great for the club and the town.

"Now I'm confident I can have a good run in the Premier League. I believe in my own ability and hopefully I can play some games."

And he added: "Next season is a dream come true and I think all the players are getting ready.

"Obviously there will be a few changes over the summer and I'm sure we will sign some players. But we're in this as a squad and we'll be ready for what happens."

Church has been linked with a summer move to a variety of Championship clubs including Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town.
