HAL Robson-Kanu played down his sensational goal against Peterborough United and pledged to keep giving his all when he gets a chance.

The 22-year-old came off the bench to net his third goal of the season with a sublime finish on Tuesday night.

Regardless of that, Robson-Kanu is now certain to start this Saturday when Reading travel to Blackpool as captain Jobi McAnuff is suspended after receiving five yellow cards.

It will be the Welshman's ninth league start this season in addition to 10 appearances as a substitute.

And the ever-modest winger declared: "It's always nice to get on the scoresheet. Obviously, you can score in different ways, but a goal is a goal so I will take that one.

"My only focus is to continue doing well. Throughout the season I've shown whenever I play I make an impact and it's nice to continue that. I want to be part of things."

The Peterborough victory was only Reading's third home win in 10 league games this season.

It was also the first time this season they had secured successive wins following the 3-2 thriller at Ipswich Town on Saturday.

"It's been a bit of a rollercoaster recently," admitted Robson-Kanu. "But the most important thing is the win and three points.

"We don't really look at the table because the Championship is so tight. Last season we didn't kick on until January but we need to keep picking up the points in this league."

Meanwhile, Tuesday's game was a welcome distraction for Robson-Kanu and Simon Church following the death of Gary Speed. "It's been a tough week," admitted Robson-Kanu. "You just have to keep going and concentrate on football."
