SUMMER signing Adam Le Fondre declared Reading must be ruthless in front of goal if they want to beat leaders Southampton in the Championship's feature-fixture on Saturday.
Royals' new star also insisted he signed at The Madjeski Stadium to become the club's lead striker following the £7million departure of Shane Long to West Bromwich Albion.
Le Fondre doubled his Championship tally for the season with a brace against Derby County on Tuesday night, helping his new club to twice come from behind and snatch a point to extend their unbeaten run to six.
"I want to be the lead marksman here, that was my aim when I came, to score goals," said Le Fondre. "I was delighted to score two goals but we didn't get the result we wanted, the game was there for us to take.
"We had nothing to fear from Derby, they were happy with a point and I suppose we should be having been behind twice. We didn't lose so I guess we can take heart from that.
"We had a lot of pressure in the first half and also in the second but we didn't really create any gilt-edged chances. Their keeper made a really good save to keep out my header but there weren't too many other where you think 'how have you missed that?'
"On chances we should have won. Their keeper made a good save from me in the first-half with the header and I think Derby had two shots and scored two goals.
"But we showed great character not to lose in the end and we keep our unbeaten run going. It's just one of things so hopefully those will start falling for us soon."
Looking ahead to Saturday's visit from the runaway Championship leaders Le Fondre added: "Sky will be here and I'm sure it will be a great spectacle.
"They won again on Tuesday and they're a good team, they're not top of the league for nothing. We will try and attack them and win like we do in every other game.
"I don't think Southamapton's defence will be as giving as Derby were so we're going to have to be ruthless with our chances and take them when they come."
The £350,000 signing from Rothernam United kissed the shinpad that bears his daughter's name after scoring in midweek and is hoping to repeat the act in a Royals shirt soon.
"When I score I keep forgetting to kiss my shinpads," he continued.
"My little girl Amelia is 21 months old and I wrote her name on them.
"Luckily I remembered this time and I thought it would be a nice touch to kiss her name. Hopefully, it will be the first of many."
Meanwhile, skipper Jobi McAnuff is likely to be fit after recovering from an ankle injury.
However, Jay Tabb could miss out again as a precaution afrter being knocked unconscious during Reading's 1-0 win at Burnley last Saturday.
