WOODLEY Town have announced ambitous plans to join forces with Wokingham and Emmbrook to create a 'super-club' for the region.

Satsumas are currently tennants at Larges Lane which they share with landlords Bracknell Town.

Their efforts to secure a ground of their own have been met with continued opposition from Wokingham Borough Council.

However, Satsumas may have found a solution to their problem in a possible collaboration with Woodley Town, who play at East Park Farm.

The clubs went public with their plans this week and Wokingham president Mark Ashwell hopes that joining forces will sway the council into granting a lease for a 'community club'.

Ashwell explained: "We want a ground, there's no two ways about it, and we're collaborating with Woodley to get one.

"Our vision is one club to represent the borough.

"To have one football club running a ground is difficult to sell but two football clubs who cover the highest levels of football in Wokingham Borough to represent it at the top is a good vision and something that needs to be listened to."

Wokingham have been attempting to upgrade their pitch at Cantley Park for years.

But the council insist the park should remain in public use in its entirity and not sold off to private clubs.

Satsumas, who play in Hellenic Premier, also own a site at Lowther Road but local residents have opposed plans to erect floodlights which are a necessary requirement in the upper divisions.
