McDermott denies Leicester bid for Reading FC's Long

BRIAN McDermott has denied Leicester City have made a bid for Reading FC striker Shane Long.
The Republic of Ireland international has been widely linked with a move away from the Madejski this summer and it was reported the Foxes had made an official move for him earlier today.
However, speaking to Talk Sport, McDermott said there has not been an offer from Leicester and stated his belief that Long could still stay with Royals.
"We've had contact from Leicester very early in the summer but we've had no £7.5million email drop on our doorstep," he commented.
"I'd love to think it's a possibility he'll stay, I would say its 50/50. If a Premier League club comes in for him and the deal is right, then he'll be gone. We'll just have to wait and see but from our point of view we'd love to keep him.
"For me, Shane Long belongs in the Premiership. We were inches away from the Premier League last year. Last year we were in the black, the year before we were in the black and this year we will be in the black because that's how we run the club.
"If it's a Championship club and it's Leicester who offer that kind of money then it will be down to the board. My view on Shane Long is he is a Premiership player and I'd sign him for any Premiership team that I was involved with."
