West Ham bid £8million for Reading FC striker Long

WEST Ham have reportedly tabled an £8million bid for Reading striker Shane Long.
The 24-year-old has been widely linked with a move away from the Madejski Stadium this summer and only has a year left on his contract.
While West Bromwich Albion would be the striker's preferred destination, the Midlands club are yet to confirm their interest by making a bid.
West Ham, on the other hand, have made an initial offer of £5million for the Republic of Ireland international, with another £3million to follow in add-ons.
Reading manager Brian McDermott has stated that Long will not be sold to another Championship club but Royals' resolve could be tested by Hammers' offer.
Along with West Ham and West Brom, Newcastle, Wolves and Everton have all been linked with a move for Long.
