Federici positive over Reading future

READING goalkeeper Adam Federici believes the positives of last season will far outweigh the disappointment of losing the Championship play-off final to Swansea City.
The 26-year-old, right, was restored to the number one spot for the final two league matches of the season and the subsequent play-off fixtures against Cardiff City and the Swans after injury.
The Australia international admits the 4-2 defeat at Wembley last month was the "most gut-wrenching" match he has had in the game, but he is confident Royals and manager Brian McDermott can build on last season for another assault on the Premier League this term.
"Swansea adapted quicker to the occasion than we did and played their normal game," said Federici. "You can't give them space and time because they're clinical up front and they showed that. But there are loads of positives to take from last season which will make us stronger as a team.
"Hopefully we can keep as much of the team together as possible then I think we will have every opportunity of going up automatically instead of through the play-offs.
"We had to rebuild when we dropped down from the Premier League and we're still in that stage at the moment. But we've got a great manager and a great set-up. Everything is ready to go and we're excited about the future."
And Federici insists he is in no rush to leave Reading despite continuing links with top-flight clubs following the play-off final defeat.
"I'll think about things while I'm away then see where I am," he added. "I've got another two years left on my contract with Reading so we will see."
Federici, meanwhile, further staked his claim to Australia's number one shirt when he kept a clean sheet in the goalless draw against Serbia in Melbourne this week.
With Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer rested for the international friendly, the Reading number one took over and made some fine saves during the game.
