ROYALS striker Grzegorz Rasiak has left the club on a free transfer to join top Cypriot side AEL Limassol.

The 31-year-old Pole was signed this time last year by former boss Brendan Rodgers but never managed to make himself a regular in the first first team.

Reading director of football Nick Hammond said today: "With the emergence of our young strikers and the return of Noel Hunt from injury, Grzegorz's chances of playing were going to be limited this season.

"He is at an age where he wants to play regular football, he is fairly expensive for us and therefore this is a deal that I am happy with, it allows him to play, it is good for the club and so it suits all parties."

He added: "He has been a consummate professional in his time here, and I would like to wish both him and his family all the very best in Cyprus."
